Belly dancer Yazila: energy, creativity and mystery!
In her performances and teaching methods, belly dancer Yazila combines the ancient cultural dance traditions of 3 continents. She uses her own unique style, which is characterised by energy, creativity and mystery.
Oriental dance – a passion for life
Raised in an artist family, Yazila was already enchanted by the beauty of Oriental dance at an early age. The beginning of a passion for life. She was schooled by some of the most influential dance teachers of our time, like Ibrahim Farrah (Lebanon) and Elena Lentini (New York). She regularly travels to Cairo and New York and is part of the prestigious Caravanserai dance company.
In addition, she broadened her expertise by exploring dance forms such as classical ballet, jazz, modern, flamenco, tango, African, Turkish and Egyptian folklore, Dervish/Tanoura/Zar and other ritual trance dances, and Japanese Butoh.
Contemporary Middle Eastern Forms
Yazila has developed a modern, very own style, which she named Contemporary Middle Eastern Forms. Renewal, development and openness to different dance forms – while preserving and respecting the traditions – are essential for the evolution of Oriental dance as a performing art. Source of inspiration in this are the mythologies, symbols and rituals that the Middle East are rich in.
Danza Mora – Spanish/Arabian
Yazila's specialty is the Danza Mora, the passionate Spanish/Arabian dance. For more information, see Performances Yazila.
